Jim Moffett got a jaywalking ticket after saving two elderly ladies lives. What? Here is the story paraphrased from Rocky Mountain News:
"Two elderly women exited the bus and tried to walk across Federal to their trailer home on the east side. There was light snow on the ground making the road slick. So the bus driver, Jim Moffett, gets off the but to help these two elderly ladies across the street. They are halfway across when a pick up truck lost control and slammed into Mr. Moffett; but not before he pushed the two women out of the way to safety."
Well, fellow bloggers, what do you think his reward was for this good deed? A traffic violation! That's right. The Colorado police department gave him a ticket for jaywalking. Ryan Sullivan, of the State Patrol, said that while Moffett's "intentions were good," jaywalking caused the accident. Really? Not the impatient driver in the pickup truck that decided to pass illegally in the left hand turn lane.
Well, this is my blog and I'm entitled to my opinion so here it is. The ladies got off at a bus stop, no one can argue that. So why isn't there a cross walk at that intersection; I mean since the bus stops there and people get off? Well, perhaps they can build one with the money from the stimulus package....
Oh and for the record, I don't think he should be fined. Please!!

Yes, I read this article a couple of days ago and just shook my head in disbelief. That should tell all of us not to jay walk in the street.
Punishment today is a bit too harsh don't you think? If I was to kill someone...don't punish me because I must be going through a tough time which caused a temporary insanity to come upon me, can't blame me for that.
If I sell drugs to children…surely it is because my dire situation pushed me to my limits…provide me with a monthly government check, provide me with a home and food (at no cost of course), let me rest a bit without the burden of bills and dept, and provide some good counseling and there is a chance I could rebuild my life…the kids I sold drugs to should have known better; don’t they teach them all about drugs in school now?
I’ll tell you who the REAL villains are: the guy I saw chopping down a tree last week is just plan rude…I mean, what right does he have to just go around chopping down trees. There is another guy digging a hole in the ground trying to find more oil…shame on him…after we tax him to death I think prison would be a nice finish, don’t you?
Then, there is that guy that walked the two old ladies across the street He nearly killed that poor guy in the truck. Only a selfish, lawbreaking, tree cutting, hole digging looser would put himself in a situation that would cause a truck to run into him on a road. Hopefully there was a large fine included in the ticket he got so we can provide the “needy” with a warm home, food and free counseling.
stupid things like this seem to happen too often!
